Saint-Gobain Abrasives Poland reduces co2 emissions on waste collection by 50%
Waste generation is inevitable in any factory, and Saint-Gobain Abrasives is no exception with waste coming from raw materials used in production and from packaging of various products and processes.
In aligning with Saint-Gobain’s objective of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Saint-Gobain Abrasives Poland launched a taskforce to decrease the volume of packaging waste – reducing transport emissions generated by its collection.
To kick-start this initiative, the Coated abrasives plant in Koło invested in two pressing machines, one for paper waste, the other for plastic. These machines have helped to significanlty reduce waste volume, resulting in waste collection being reduced by a factor of 2, delivering a reduction of 50% CO2 emissions (650 kg CO2 per month).
The same initiative is now planned for the cutting and grinding wheel plant which will help in further reducing the CO2 emissions from waste collection.
