Ending the year even greener!
In response to today’s environmental challenges, the SEAM label is intensifying its efforts to meet its 2025 commitments. The key initiatives of the last quarter of 2024 are all focused on adopting responsible practices. Let’s review the progress.
001. SEAM Carbon Footprint Project
Minimizing the carbon footprint remains a top priority. Thanks to the carbon measurement tool currently being developed with EFESO, all SEAM Carbon Footprint Project members will begin calculating their carbon footprints starting next year. We are tracking 3 key indicators: the use of the calculation tool, personnel training and the drafting of comprehensive training materials. These will be gradually replaced by a standardized method for all SEAM labeled companies by 2025.
002. One-to-one meetings to drive action
To ensure the success of the SEAM Carbon Footprint Project, bimonthly meetings with all members have been held from mid-September through the end of October. The main goal is to collect the data required for initial results, which will serve as the foundation for broader implementation.
003. Initial results by year-end
The upcoming months will be decisive in turning these commitments into tangible outcomes. Here are the key steps that will pave the way for full implementation in 2025:
- October 2024
⟩ Calculation of Scopes 1 & 2 for the period 2022-2023
⟩ First draft of training materials - November 2024
⟩ Release of first results: sector-wide average for Scopes 1 & 2 in Europe
⟩ Initial recommendations for calculating Scope 3
⟩ Development of a supplier communication template - December 2024
⟩ First attempt to Scope 3 estimates
⟩ Publication of complete training material
